AI: PROS & CONS

AI is now being talked about widely. It’s seeping into every area of life and now threatening whole industries of jobs.

It’s been used in recruitment for a number of years, to filter CVs and shortlist candidates with varied results. But the danger has always been the risk of missing out on talent just because someone didn’t use the right keyword.

But now, candidates can be using AI to create covering letters, CVs, and applications.

It’s a minefield.

The reality is, nothing replaces experienced eyes and ears and proper conversations.

This is why the sort of search we do, i.e. using our networks, deep research, and multiple conversations, I believe, will become more and more important in identifying and rooting out genuine talent.

In a way, moving forward means going backward, to yes, labour-intensive, but also personal, relationships.

The talent industry is about people. It shouldn’t be about technology, unless it’s supporting the human aspects of the work to help us be more productive and improve communications.

If we come to rely entirely on AI, genuine gems of talent will be missed. And that’s not a risk I want to take when finding the very best people in this industry for my clients.
